The challenge required me to endure a strenuous expedition consisting of a 2 week trek to the basecamp of Mt Everest reaching an altitude of 18,000 feet. Everest is the highest mountain on Earth, located in the Himalayas in high Asia.

I aim to raise at least £20,000 by the end of 2008 and would really welcome your support. All funds that are raised will contribute to the Orphans General Fund which supports orphans worldwide with finance, clothing, food, shelter, education and medical care.

Why am I doing this???

Many of us are very fortunate to have our parents. Losing one or both parents is traumatic for any child in any situation. In countries where war, famine or poverty are a part of everyday life, millions of children are orphaned and left to struggle for survival.

The prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) lost both of his parents at a very young age and emphasized the rewards for helping orphans:

"Whoever caresses the head of an orphan (in affection), solely for the sake of Allah, a good deed will be written to his account for every hair over which he passed his hand, and whoever treated an orphan (boy or girl) with goodness and kindness, he and I will be close to each-other in Heaven as these two fingers"

"Whoever supports an orphan from among his own or any other family, he will be as close to me in Heaven as these fingers are close to each other."

"I, and the one who looks after an orphan, will be together like this in the next world", then he raised his index and middle fingers together."

Your donations will contribute to the Orphans General Fund which supports orphans in several ways including:

  • Education
  • Medical care
  • Shelter
  • Income generation (small business loans, livestock, etc)
  • Courses in language, literacy, cooking, sewing, etc
  • Fun outings and festive gifts
  • Summer camps
  • School Equipment
  • Ramadan and Qurbani food baskets

Can we bring a smile back to a child's face? I think we can. Do a good deed....help a child in need!!!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Islamic Relief will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

If you are interested in supporting me in anyway, have ideas for fundraising or if you have further enquiries please contact me on 07743518068 or via email at harrymota00@hotmail.com
